Honey bee (tarsus and antennae twitching)

Here, a honey bee (Apis mellifera) is asleep, sliding down the glass of an observation hive, while a tarsus is twitching (as are her antennae). Honey bees’ tarsi occasionally twitch, apparently far more during sleep than when awake. Ithaca, NY, summer 2005. Video copyright Barrett Klein.
